Antique pine country farmhouse kitchen dining table made around 1900 probably. Drawer at one end with original wooden knob; nice thick chunky turned legs; curved corners. Seats four people, or six friendly types.. Condition is very rustic: we make no bones about it; in fact we're leaning right into it! Structurally it's pretty solid; not much movement in the joints, just a little bit at the drawer end but not bad at all. The top has had a lot of woodworm in the past, as you can see. That's quite a good look but it had affected one edge structurally so we chipped away the crumbly bits and re shaped it as well as we could; not a perfect straight edge but pleasing enough. Similarly an end section (pictured). There's some small areas which are perhaps a little bit soft but not enough to warrant a wood hardener, really, though that's always an option. Obviously we have thoroughly treated the whole piece above and below, to make sure there's no recurrence. The feet have been re made at some point. Cosmetically, the base has remnants of its original dark varnish and has lots of marks and scuffs etc. We've given it a brief rub down and that's about it. The top we sanded quite comprehensively though there are still lots of very obvious marks on it which won't come out (see pics). Whether these are features or flaws depends very much on the viewer.. The whole table has had a coat of finishing oil, with a second coat on the top to give some water resistance. Dimensions: 122cm x 86cm x 75cm high
